Botox Cosmetic

BOTOX Cosmetic is a nonsurgical cosmetic treatment for moderate to severe frown lines in people ages 18 to 65. BOTOX Cosmetic works by reducing the contractions of the muscles that cause those persistent frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and Crow’s feet developed over time. A consultation is important, so come in today for a complimentary visit with Dr. Andrea Ball.

BOTOX temporarily improves the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows (glabellar region), lines on the forehead, lines around the mouth, and Crow’s feet (around the eyes) lines in adults ages 18 to 65. Injecting BOTOX Cosmetic into the muscles that cause lines temporarily reduces the activity of those muscles. The result is a reduction in the appearance of those lines.

How BOTOX Cosmetic works

BOTOX Cosmetic is a purified protein that smoothes the muscles by blocking nerve impulses. With a few tiny injections, BOTOX Cosmetic blocks the release of acetylcholine, the chemical that causes muscles to contract. With less movement, the skin surface gradually smooths out and the lines begin to fade. BOTOX Cosmetic targets the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. The doctor will inject these muscles with BOTOX Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity so you will begin to notice a visible smoothing.

The BOTOX Procedure

The BOTOX Cosmetic procedure consists of a few tiny injections and takes only 10 minutes. No anesthesia is required. There may be minimal and brief discomfort, along with slight temporary bruising at the injection site, which can easily be covered up with makeup. There is no downtime.

Results are typically seen in 2 – 10 days and may continue to improve during the first week after treatment. Results may vary. With proper unit dosing, the effects of BOTOX Cosmetic can last up to four months. 89% of men and women surveyed rated the improvement in their appearance of brow frown lines as moderate to better after one month.

What you should know before a BOTOX Cosmetic procedure

To ensure the best treatment outcome, each patient is individually assessed for proper dosage. Average initial treatment of forehead lines, Crow’s feet, and frown lines is 30 – 50 units of BOTOX. This treatment can even be scheduled along with your regular dental cleaning!
