Variations of Chemical Peels
At our Indianapolis, IN office, we offer chemical peels in several strengths (light, medium, and deep) to accommodate our patients' skin needs and goals.
Light peels: You can receive a light peel on your lunch break and go right back to your normal routine. This type of peel will remove the outer skin layer (the epidermis), giving your face a brighter appearance and smoother texture. We usually suggest that you schedule a light chemical peel around once a month for the best results.
Medium-depth peels: This type of peel reaches further into your skin, and you'll generally prefer to have this type of facial rejuvenation treatment during a long weekend. You may also want to ready yourself for more discomfort during and up to one hour after a chemical peel. Medium-depth peels are designed for patients who have significant damage to their skin, such as deeper lines and darker pigmentation issues.
Deep peels: The most advanced of the three levels of chemical peels is the deep peel, and it will require the most recovery time. This is an aggressive procedure that may leave your face itchy, peeling, and swollen for 2 – 3 weeks. Patients who receive a deep peel will have dark age spots, sun damage, prominent acne scars, or deep scars. Since this strength of chemical peel is typically uncomfortable for patients, we will provide you with an anesthetic before your peel.
How Does a Chemical Peel Work?
On the day of your procedure at Ball Dentistry, we will have you lying down in a relaxed position to administer your treatment. We will make sure the skin is thoroughly cleaned prior to applying the personalized peel solution to the face and/or neck. We will massage the solution onto the skin and let it work for a specific amount of time, which will be discussed in your treatment planning session. Next, we will wash the solution off your skin and put on a neutralizing agent. Patients may want to bring light sunscreen or a hat to wear outside after the procedure to avoid sun exposure.

Was encouraged by a friend to come for a second opinion, a "big company " priced me out over $ 2,000 out of pocket after also maxing out my insurance.. He reviewed x-rays with me described his concerns, explained his game plan and how he would work it. Returning to Jessica she already worked with insurance and drew up a new quote. Not only did my out of pocket drop $1570 from original cost but my insurance was not maxed out, in fact my remaining available balance for the year will definitely be enough if anything else comes up. She went thru paperwork with me , made it clear to me about charges to insurance and remaining out of pocket.. we created a payment plan and scheduled my first appointment.. I feel confident in the work I received today. Dr. Craig relieved me of my anxieties before beginning my procedure. Everything was smooth and I was finished in a timely manner. I appreciate the clarity that was given to me from all sides, start to finish. I have found my family dentist office !
When I moved from the south side to Carmel i was sad to leave my dentist I grew up seeing my whole life. I was referred to Ball Dentistry and first was seeing Dr. Craig Ball. The staff is so nice and the office is gorgeous and clean. I eventually got moved over to Dr. Rachel Thompson who is also amazing. Dr. Rachel Thompson told me last fall I needed to get a crown on a tooth eventually which I never have had to get done so was nervous. I have had sensitivity on that same exact tooth since February and just been so nervous to get a crown done. I just today bit the bullet and got the crown done and so mad I waited so long. Dr. Rachel Thompson executed the whole procedure so flawlessly I didn't feel the shot nor anything during the procedure. Honestly only con of a crown is the price and how long it takes to get done. I recommend Dr. Rachel Thompson as a dentist!
