New patients receive a comprehensive examination, which includes a screening for oral cancer, gum and bone disease, blood pressure, and systemic disorders. A routine oral exam is performed on established patients to determine any changes in dental and health status since the previous visit.
Your gum tissue is measured with a fine instrument ruler to calibrate in millimeters pocket depth between the tooth and the connective gum tissue around the tooth. Pocket depths more than 4 millimeters could indicate disease and infection. The deeper the pocket, the greater the extent plaque bacteria collects, leading to infection and gum disease.
X-rays are taken as needed.
Tooth scaling and root planing occur as needed.
Routine cleanings also include a professional polishing (prophy) that removes only the soft sticky plaque that is above the gumline.
Digital X-Rays
Our office uses the latest in digital x-ray technology. Digital x-rays offer a detailed image of your entire mouth and also offer up to 80% less radiation than traditional film x-rays.
X-rays play an invaluable role in the diagnosis of dental problems, as well as providing a clear picture for a dentist to accurately diagnose and provide the necessary treatment.
We place a small sensor in your mouth. The sensor is connected to a computer by a thin wire. Next, an x-ray beam is sent through your teeth and into the sensor, which records the image of your teeth and sends it to the computer. The sensor can then be repositioned to image other sections of your teeth.
The digital dental x-ray system is more sensitive than dental x-ray film systems, so your exposure to x-rays is cut by as much as 90 percent. The large and color-enhanced images let you see what your dentist sees, so it's easier for you to understand how your dentist will treat your teeth. Your dental checkups take less time, and it's fun to watch this system work! Most patients are amazed.
Digital Panoramic X-Rays
Panoramic x-rays offer patients a complete detailed image of the entire mouth, including the teeth, jaw (upper and lower), sinuses, and TMJ.
This provides a complete picture of how everything looks and relates to each other.
Intraoral Camera
Our office uses an intraoral exam in order to allow the patient to see the what the doctor sees at the same time. This allows the patient to understand the issues the doctor is seeing and helps the doctor in discussing treatment plans.
Micro Ultrasonic Scaling
We provide our patients with the luxury of ultrasonic scaling. It is more comfortable for patients and allows for the scaling process to be completed faster than having to scrape tooth surfaces like the conventional scaling process.
Dental Exam Reviews
Dr. Gary Ball has been providing all of my dental care for over 40 years. He is the patriarch of a dental family. His son, Dr. Craig Ball, has also provided excellent care for many years now. I trust them implicitly to give me sound advice and treatment for a reasonable and fair price. Over the years their practice has grown but they've maintained a family approach. They don't just focus on my dental needs. They ask me how I'm doing in general and follow my many hobbies and interests. They know my strengths as well as my fears and failures. They approach each challenge with compassion and dignity. I've had almost a hundred cleanings, dozens of xrays, in-house CT scans, a few whitening treatments, and multiple fillings, crowns, and implants over the years. They maintain the latest imaging equipment and modern treatment methods. If you're looking for an improvement or a second opinion, give these folks a shout. I'm so proud of my dental health and I owe it to brushing with a good toothbrush, flouride toothpaste and treatments, and flossing twice a day. But most of all I owe it to the Ball Dentistry family practice.
I have been a patient here a little over a year. I switched to this office based on a couple personal recommendations and because they have a cosmetic specialty. I have severe TMJ and have dealt with bruxism (clenching and grinding) at night for most of my life. It worsens the older I get. I spent months saving to finally get Botox treatments in my jaw, since it is the only treatment I know about, hoping for some much needed relief. I am still in the waiting phase to see if this will work, but I can say without a doubt the care I’ve recieved from Andrea and Alandra has been unlike any dental care time I’ve had in a long time. They listen and are so patient and kind. I don’t just feel like a number like I have at most places. I very much look forward to my continued time there. I can’t speak highly enough of them or recommend another place more!
What’s not to love!? Professional environment, kind staff members, and quality dental care. We love Ball Dentistry!
I visited Ball Dentistry last week for a crown and had an excellent experience from start to finish. They were able to complete the entire crown in a single visit using their in-office scanner and milling technology, which was incredibly impressive and convenient.Dr. Craig and his assistant Misty were fantastic. They were professional, friendly, and very attentive throughout the entire process. What really stood out to me was how comfortable the procedure was. It was honestly the least uncomfortable dental experience I have ever had.If you are looking for modern dental care that combines advanced technology with great patient care, I highly recommend Ball Dentistry.
Love, love, love this dentist! My son and I have been patients here for at least a decade- truly wonderful people that offer top notch care and will not try to upsell you anything. Dr. Weathers and his staff are incredible. Hands down best dental care I’ve ever had in my life.
