Placing Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are thin, semi-transparent tooth-shaped "shells" that are custom-made porcelain. They are permanently bonded to your natural teeth which are located in your "smile zone" to enhance their shape, color, length, or size. Veneers can fix gaps between teeth and/or improve the appearance of teeth that are discolored, misshapen, or misaligned.

  1. The teeth are cleaned and any old surface restorations are removed.
  2. An impression is taken of the prepped tooth and sent to a lab where the veneer is fabricated.
  3. The veneer is applied with bonding resin and a curing light.
  4. After the veneer is set, it is shaped and polished to look like a natural tooth.

Dr. Gary Ball has been providing all of my dental care for over 40 years. He is the patriarch of a dental family. His son, Dr. Craig Ball, has also provided excellent care for many years now. I trust them implicitly to give me sound advice and treatment for a reasonable and fair price. Over the years their practice has grown but they've maintained a family approach. They don't just focus on my dental needs. They ask me how I'm doing in general and follow my many hobbies and interests. They know my strengths as well as my fears and failures. They approach each challenge with compassion and dignity. I've had almost a hundred cleanings, dozens of xrays, in-house CT scans, a few whitening treatments, and multiple fillings, crowns, and implants over the years. They maintain the latest imaging equipment and modern treatment methods. If you're looking for an improvement or a second opinion, give these folks a shout. I'm so proud of my dental health and I owe it to brushing with a good toothbrush, flouride toothpaste and treatments, and flossing twice a day. But most of all I owe it to the Ball Dentistry family practice.

Can't say enough good things about the doctor and the entire staff at this office. I've been a patient for approximately 10 years and I can't recommend them more highly! What do you got going on with

Dr. Thompson is fantastic as well as the rest of the staff. I recently had to switch dentists due to insurance and picked this office at random because it is close to home. So glad I did.

About Us
How should I clean my porcelain veneers?
Just like your natural teeth, a soft-bristled toothbrush and normal toothpaste can be used to clean your porcelain veneers. It is safe also to use mouthwash, floss, and water picks to clean both your veneers and the gumline. Be careful to not brush too harshly or use chemicals, like whitening agents, unless approved by your provider at Ball Dentistry.
Will getting porcelain veneers ruin your teeth?
Generally, experienced providers like ours at Ball Dentistry do not harm your teeth in the application of porcelain veneers. Veneers can damage natural teeth only when applied in an unskilled or inappropriate manner. In these cases, the dentist may remove too much enamel, but our providers are experienced at maintaining the integrity of your natural teeth as much as possible in the installation process.
How long will porcelain veneers last?
Porcelain veneers are built to last, lasting up to 15 years when treated with proper care and maintenance. We think it's best to stick to a daily oral hygiene routine to address the at-home care of your porcelain veneers. In addition, we recommend avoiding sticky, hard, or chewy foods as a way to extend the life of your porcelain veneers.
